Character-Centered Teaching Resource Kit

The Character-Centered Teaching resource kit is a cost-effective way to provide staff development. It can be used by a character education committee to help design and implement a comprehensive program of character education tailored to your school or district.
  • This multimedia staff development resource was designed with teachers, principals, superintendents, school psychologists, and others in mind who wish to initiate or enhance a character education program or provide staff development in character education.
  • The kit will help you develop a program to fit the needs of your school or district through a practical system of character education based on guiding principles, systematic methods for teachers, and practice strategies for students.
  • The Character-Centered Teaching approach provides the means to create a peaceful learning environment that will be beneficial to students and teachers alike.
  • The methods and strategies contained in the resource assist teachers by providing a framework for integrating guiding principles into a teacher's lessons. A teacher can tailor the program to his/her needs, subject area, and teaching style.
  • Character-Centered Teaching is based on the idea that developing character in students begins with the teacher modeling positive character attributes and actively coaching students to learn and practice the guiding principles that form the basis of sound character.
  • The ultimate goal of using the resource is the development of a comprehensive Character-Centered Teaching initiative that promotes sound character in students, creates a peaceful learning environment in the school, and leads to higher academic performance.
Included in the Resource Kit:
  • A 175 page manual for developing a comprehensive initiative
  • Four, video workshops for staff development
  • Suggested activities for staff development
  • Strategies for teachers to promote sound character
  • The 12 Guiding Principles with handouts for students
  • Practice strategies for students
