There is $88 million in federal funds available this summer from the Small Learning Communities (SLC) program. These funds will support the creation of small learning communities in large high schools (over 1,000 students) to improve student achievement.

This webinar provides guidance and support to district and school administrators to take advantage of the tremendous opportunity the SLC grants offer to improve learning environments and raise student achievement and graduation rates.

This webinar addresses:
  • What SLCs are and how they can create a more personal learning environment in large high schools
  • Various funding levels available and eligibility requirements
  • Timeline for grant applications and program planning
  • Key proposed funding priorities for this SLC competition and how a school can align these priorities with improvement strategies
  • The benefits of strategic analysis and planning prior to SLC implementation

The International Center encourages high schools to pursue these funds and use them to support a thoughtful and strategic approach to creating an environment that supports rigor, relevance and relationships.
