Master Teachers

[ Master Teacher Sample Workshops ]

Our Master Teachers provide staff development to help schools implement a rigorous and relevant curriculum for all students. Master Teachers are available individually or in teams to conduct workshops in the areas of English language arts, math, science, technology, social studies, the arts, career and technical education and special education. All sessions are designed to meet the specific needs of the school and to engage teachers very actively in the process of acquiring the essential knowledge, tools and techniques they need to effect change in the classroom. The workshops offer teachers a wide variety of resources and teaching strategies as well as tips on modifying existing curriculum to make it more rigorous and relevant.

Workshops can be planned for one day or for several days, either in a row or over the course of the year. Summer workshops are also easily arranged.

Areas of Master Teacher expertise, in addition to subject-specific knowledge, include:

  • integrating instruction across curriculum areas
  • differentiated instruction
  • reading in the content area
  • designing performance-based assessments and scoring guides for reporting student progress
  • using technology in the classroom
  • motivating reluctant and under-functioning students with relevant learning
  • curriculum mapping
  • creating multi-grade teams to improve instruction
  • helping teachers to break out of their "comfort zone" and embrace new ways of teaching and learning
  • classroom management
  • organizing time to accommodate more in-depth learning activities
  • character education
  • peer review
  • school-to-work programs

Making the curriculum more relevant to the real world requires teaching methods, resources and collaborations that are different from the ones teachers have been trained to use. The Master Teachers provide this practical, hands-on assistance so that teachers can give students the learning experiences they must have for success in our changing world.

The Master Teachers come from model schools all over the United States. They are elementary, middle and secondary school teachers and special education teachers who are recognized for their outstanding ability to deliver a rigorous and relevant curriculum to their students.

All Master Teachers are proven practitioners and experienced presenters who are conversant with the International Center's philosophy and activities, including use of the Rigor/Relevance Framework. For more information, contact todd@leadered.com .
